DESCRIPTION

It has been used in a variety of applications such as chemical process equipment, tank trucks, propeller shafts, and spent nuclear fuel element recovery, to name a few. It is frequently used in pollution control equipment, oil well and gas gathering pipelines – even as clad steel pipe – where resistance to stress cracking or general corrosion in a wide range of reducing or oxidising acids is needed.

Its high chromium content, which makes Grade 316 Hex Bar resistant to a wide range of oxidising agents, such as nitric acid, nitrates, and oxidising salt, makes it ideal for use in chemical processing. Although Type 316 Hex Bar is not completely resistant to stress corrosion cracking when exposed to boiling magnesium chloride, it is extremely resistant when exposed to neutral magnesium chloride.
